HOW DO I....
OBTAIN REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS?

If you are on long-term medication, you will be given a computerised prescription reordering slip. This allows you to reorder repeat medication without seeing the doctor every time. After a specified number of repeats (usually three or six months), you will be required to see the doctor or the nurse for review to ensure that all is well before further prescriptions are issued.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this, but we feel this policy is essential to good medical practice.

The repeat prescription slip should be handed in to the surgery 48 hours before you require your prescription. Alternatively you can post this to us, ticking off the items you require and sending a stamped self-addressed envelope, and we will post your repeat prescription back to you. We do not take telephone requests for repeat prescriptions as this can lead to mistakes. There are certain medications which will not be prescribed without you first seeing the doctor.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE DOCTOR FOR A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION IN THE COURSE OF A CONSULTATION OR A HOME VISIT.

The surgery operates a prescription collection service with some of the local chemists. This will enable you to collect your medication directly from the pharmacy without having to collect the prescription at the surgery.

Please contact reception who will advise you of the participating chemists.
